Packs and onboarding of new players
A practical guide to welcoming new players, starting credit, self-service packs, claim restrictions and checking issued rewards.
On this page
Packs simplify the first minutes on the server and repeated community rewards. The player writes a familiar command in the chat, for example /camopack, and Nodera verifies whether they are entitled to the package. Thus, the administrator does not have to hand out items to each player and at the same time has control over who, when and how many times can get the package.
Important distinction: the pack invoked by the chat command is not the same as the Welcome Pack mod. A chat pack is granted to an already connected player upon request. Welcome Pack mod adjusts equipment when creating or respawning a character and has a separate activation process.
What the module covers
- Common packs: a fixed list of items or rewards under your own chat command.
- Mystery packs: the player gets a random matching pack from the selected list or category.
- Weapon packs: equipment packs also usable in Warzones; are managed separately from BTC Shop products.
- Starting credit: automatic one-time deposit of in-game currency after a stable connection of a new player.
- Welcome message: global message at the very first connection of the player to the selected server.
- History and manual issuance: check results and safely release a pack to a specific online player.
Where can you find it in the admin
- SCUM PACKS → Packs – list, creation and editing of regular and mystery packs.
- SCUM PACKS → Categories – common groups of claims.
- SCUM PACKS → Weapon packs – battle packs and manual release.
- New players → Pack settings – wipe key, starting credit and messages.
- New Players → Welcome Announcement - first welcome and its history.
- SCUM PACKS → History - issued, pending, skipped and failed attempts.
Always check the server in the common top selection before editing. Packs, claims and history are kept separately for each SCUM server.
How to prepare a normal pack
- If you want to share a claim limit across several packs, first create a category. The player cannot then bypass the limit by choosing another pack from the same category.
- On the Packs page, create a new record or open an existing one. Enter a clear name and a unique chat command.
- Choose for whom the pack is available. You can enable roles, specific players or squads. An empty list of players and squads means that no individual restriction applies; the selected roles are still being checked.
- Set claim rule: once, after cooldown or once per wipe. The optional time window determines when the pack can be picked up.
- Add items and rewards. Use money and gold in reserved fields; select valid SCUM items from the catalog. For weapon packs, check if the pack is allowed for use in Warzone.
- Edit player messages for success, claim already used, cooldown and access denied. Only the player who used the command receives the answer.
- Enable the pack, save it, and test with an online player. Then check the result in History.
What happens to the player
The player must be online and have a reliably recognized SCUM identity. After typing the command Nodera will check the role, possible list of players or squads, time window and previous claim. If everything fits, NODERAgent will deliver the allowed items and rewards and the player will receive a colored private response. An invalid or repeated claim will not create another reward.
For manual release, select exactly one online player. The administrator can only revoke the latest unreleased manual entry for the same pack and player; items that have already been successfully delivered are not automatically collected.
Example from the Main server
Status of the database as of 1 September 2026; this is a dated example, not an automatically updated setting.
| Settings | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Starting credit | 3,000 game money | A new player will receive it once for the current wipe after a stable online connection. |
| First Welcome | On, 20 seconds delay | The server will announce "Welcome to the {player_nickname} server for the first time!" after the first connection. The variable is replaced by a nickname. |
| Camo pack | /camopack, 30 items, once per wipe | The player requests the pack themselves; the next claim becomes available only after changing the wipe key. |
| Black pack | /blackpack, 29 items, once per wipe | Separate color variant with the same type of restriction. |
| Winter pack | /winterpack, 31 items, once per wipe | Winter variant. Mystery Pack was disabled at the time of the audit. |
How to verify that everything works
- In History, the correct pack, player and final result must be present during the attempt.
- Repeat a successful test with the same player: the system has the right to reject the second claim according to the selected rule.
- When packing once per wipe, write down when you change the wipe key. Changing it will make all packs with this rule available again without deleting the history.
- If the player does not know the command, check the exact trigger, "enabled" status, role, time window, and whether he is on the right server.
- If the claim is accepted but the items are missing, check the NODERAgent result and the validity of the items; do not create a second pack with the same command.
